Hi Mary,

If you are thinking of buying a new starter motor, before you spend a lot of money, consider a repair kit from here, have read posts on here from members who have had good results.

2 bolts, the top one is a 13mm hex head, its a pig to get to as it is shielded from view by the negative earth lead. Best bet is a 3/8 drive 13mm socket on a 9 inch bar, reach down below the battery tray and fiddle the socket and bar into position, underneath coolant pipes and just on top of the gearbox.
Lower one no problem, 13mm hex bolt, with a 15mm nut on the gearbox side.

The solenoid lives in the smaller top bit..

It is very rare for the actual starter motor to break, it is always the solenoid that fail.. I fitted the solenoid kit to my starter 18 months ago and have had no more trouble with it.. ..
