Default 1.8 running rough/lumpy

My neighbours 1.8 is running rough when cold, feels like it's misfiring and going to stall below approx 1800 rpm, needs more than usual acceleration to get moving, is it a little better when warmed up but still not 100%,
Any thing obvious I can check, Tia Andy

If you have one available, or can borrow one, try an ignition coil. If it is that, then you won't have the suggested but sensible check on the inlet manifold gasket.

If you have two, then try only one at a time, then if it solves it you know which one.
