You're not wrong Derek, I've just been finishing a job in the garage & switched the hi-fi radio system on & that's gone kaput now

I've nicked the one out of the house to put in the garage I suspect I'll be in the doghouse later when she finds out.

Afternoon all! Wow! Was unusually busy in the LCOZ last night! I was out with a mate of mine and we may have had rather a lot of drink... luckily I had made a Leyland Curry so we survived with no major problems! Taking it easy today!

Same thing happened to me the other week I switched the hifi on and 'BANG/POP' now it no longer works.

These past few weeks I have been looking to replace, but all the hifi systems these days are awful. You seem to get these silly little micro systems with no more than 10W of terrible flat sounding noise. I bought the Sony DAB micro system from Argos priced at £89.99, but I took it straight back the next day as the sound and build quality is shocking.

I even went into Currys and looked at the large Panasonic, Samsung and LG 'Mega' speaker systems, but none of them have DAB.

You get what you pay for- however- if you look in the right places bargains do come up! My sound system has a second hand turntable and the 'speakers are 44 years old!

I did take a look at some stuff in a Hi Fi shop up the road from me but I wasn't impressed...

Pre owned classic kit is the way forward!

I should have kept my full size hifi separate system's from years ago, I had a few systems over the years, some of the best Hitachi and Technics/Panasonic systems going. I regrettably sold them as you do because they were too large and outdated, but the sound and build quality was simply superb.

I replaced all those with an Aiwa system which again was superb quality, kept that system for 10 years and upgraded to a Sandstrom wireless Bluetooth USB DAB setup, only lasted 18 months. I bought it from Currys, so I used there 'Out Of Warranty' claims procedure and received a full refund.

I also have a Jukebox, well two really one is floor standing and seems to put a smile on people's faces. But! I still need a regular hifi system with DAB, but all this new stuff is simply awful.
