If you are not doing this, and tightening them fully before the weight of the car is on the wheels, you are doing it wrong.

Thanks to all above for inputs to this thread.
Very useful info from bl52krz regarding fitment.

PS VERSUS, Do you remember where you got the Lemforders from?
I had put them on an old Merc 250 before and have had no issues, but think i just got them from the bay, so dont know where to purchase for the 75 now.

I bought them in my country (Moldova) and cost about 60 euros all 4 (front and rear).

Agree on tensioning bushes, links before the final torque. Applies to any car i have owned.
All you do is jack up under the arm to get some tension on the joints. Then tighten.
Be careful it is still sitting on the jack stands before going underneath the car.

Well, just for a bit of closure on my search for Lemforder droplinks.
I did try that link kindly forwared from Marinabrian, but they didnt have any
However i did find them at [email protected].
Parts ordered....10/0713. Parts delivered....10/10/13.
To be fair, they did say they hadn't got them at the time, and that it would be 6 weeks before he could get them in.
£32.00 for the 2 drop links, (excl. vat & del), so virtually same price as for the **** aftermarket ones that i previously got from Rimmers. (Rimmers OE ones would have been £58.38 excl vat & del).
They seem to be good quality, with the rubber bonded to the metal housing, rather than held on by a flimsy wire spring. Time will tell, im sure, when they eventually get fitted.
On another topic, this is the 1st time ive used photobucket

Sorry I had to comment on this thread.

The reason for RUBBER drop links/suspension components being tightened at rest is obvious, it stops the rubber from being twisted and ruined as the car settles down.

This is NOT applicable for the front drop links, both ends are ball joints, so tightening them up when the car is at rest makes no difference to these at all.

Both ends are free to turn as the balls are metal to metal, so at the car settles there is no rubber to twist and ruin.

The reason they last such short time is purely NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- quality. Im annoyed as the rubbers have gone on my originals now, and now dirt and all sorts has made its way in, Ive ordered a pair of Lemforders from Germany.

I did see the thread about the other Lemforders not lasting, but perhaps they were not genuine parts... its quite possible.

Lemforder made the original lower arms, and the quality of these is FAR FAR higher than the crud that Xpart are palming off to people these days, so I have no qualms about going Lemforder for a set of drop links, they probably made the originals anyway, and I would certainly not entertain the idea of using Chinese sourced parts, whether they are "Genuine" or otherwise. The Chinese components quality is DREADFUL, and paying "genuine" prices for this Chinese tat is just not on.

Also to MGR for the wishbones as well as a number of components on the Vx Omega..

My experience of Delphi drop links is excellent - two new ones firtted at the beginning of 2013.

One of the two replaced recenrtly due to a little play after 46k miles.
