Default Spring National Date Poll

Hi Folks
With the 23rd National now behind us and Roverfest (which includes the 24th national) already sorted by the Rovererfest team I can look towards planning the 25th meet to be held in the Spring of 2018...
What I would like to know from you (the members) is did you think that the holding the event on the May day bank holiday weekend was a success?
My hope was that by holding the meet on that date it would make traveling a bit easier and give people the chance to make a weekend of it,other benefits could be slightly better weather than the March/early April dates and it gives a bit of breathing space to those who like to attend POL..
So could you please vote on the date options in the poll..
Please Note this is not about where but when the 2018 spring national will take place..
Thanks in advance to everyone voting as I'll run out of the thanks button very quickly.
Cheer Ian

Very good idea to hold it on the May day weekend. People then don't have to rush back to work the next day. They can then see other things in the area as well.......

Unfortunately I couldn't make the 23rd national due to a back injury, but I'm hoping to attend as many future events as possible. Holding the spring event on a bank holiday weekend is an excellent idea for all the reasons already mentioned, however in my opinion I'd prefer it to take place over the late May bank holiday weekend instead. Although far from being a regular occurence it's not unknown to get wintry conditions in late April and early May, whereas by the end of May things should be warming up a bit.

I've read lots of posts from members who attended Eden Camp and everyone seems to have had a great time, but there were several mentions of how windy and nippy it was on the day.

Andrew

I agree that adverse weather is a problem at any type of outdoor meet. However, anytime of year can be wet, windy or gloriously sunny. As long as the venue has some form of covered area and a café/restaurant I'm sure we can manage. There is a lovely little place just outside Monaco, very nice in early may. We could organise a convoy from Longbridge!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having it on the Sunday means that members living some distance away can use the Saturday & Monday for travelling, so it worked very well for me. No need to rush and the traffic was good

Hi Andrew
I take on board what you are saying re the weather, there are however a couple of issues using the Whitsun/Spring bank holiday weekend at the end of May, being a school half term the cost of any accommodation will probably be higher and prospective venues tend to be less keen to turn over a large area of the car parking to group bookings because they are busier anyway and I have been turned away in the past at some venues when I explained that we dont all arrive in a coach..
Cheers Ian

I think holding the meet on the bank holiday weekend is a good idea, due to the distance many members have to travel. It means that you have a day either side of the National Meet on the Sunday for travelling if required, that is one of the reasons Kirsty and I went to Eden Camp. It would of been too much travelling for us to of attended Eden Camp just for the day or two days as it was about 5 hours travelling each way.

You're right of course, it never occurred to me that it was ankle-snappers holiday time over the late May weekend. I shall vote for May Day weekend in that case as it gives people the time to travel - and late March/early April will definitely be too cold as well!

Much better over a Bank Holiday for sure...means I get to venue regardless of where it's held....defo could not of got to Eden Camp if it had been a normal weekend.
Bank Holiday gets my vote.
