And don't forget the HIRE CAR costs, for when your vehicle is being repaired.
say 3 weeks at £50 a day comes to over £1000 ...... |

Well I hope it gets saved or at least the parts to a good home. It deserves to be back on the road.

£50 a day? You'd be lucky to get a Kia picanto for that when insurance is involved. A company we do work for charges £176 a day for an insignia, £360 a day for a Mercedes s-class or if your unfortunate enough to crash your super car they have Audi R8's for just shy of a grand a day! |

Seems like a lovely car and must have been quite gutting to see it go. Did the insurance not give the buy back option? Quote:

I certainly wouldn't have given my car over for that.

Hang on - I remember a time when a courtesy car was a luxury, not something that was expected. On that basis, I'd be pretty certain that you are not forced to have one (hence saving maybe £1000) and just get a lift into work from a friend, or catch the bus for a few days ?
I know if this car had been mine, and the decision to have it repaired or written off hung on a weeks use of a Micra, I'd be cycling everywhere for a few days and getting it back on the road to use for years to come
