£50 a day? You'd be lucky to get a Kia picanto for that when insurance is involved. A company we do work for charges £176 a day for an insignia, £360 a day for a Mercedes s-class or if your unfortunate enough to crash your super car they have Audi R8's for just shy of a grand a day!

Most people are daft then, it's a Roewe bumper, you can buy a new one of those, and the lights from Sean on here for a lot less than £675.

Don't get me wrong, throw in the leather interior, the undamaged panels and the wheels and you're starting to get a breakable value that exceeds the current bid by some distance.

No it isn't. It's a genuine Rover premium bumper fitted at the factory

Perhaps you could ask ''your friend'' to give us the registration number or better still the chasis number so we can lift the build data an get confirmation of that then?

It is a genuine rover 75 premium bumper, the Chinese roewe ones are completely different and the MG7 ones have a different grill...

I thought that if the accident wasn't your fault, you could stand firm and pretty much demand that your car is repaired, rather than written off ?
Obviously, if the car is crushed into a ball, or if you caused the accident, then the above wouldn't apply. But in this case, if the Mini driver ran into the rear, surely you could have dug your heels in with her insurance company, obtained your own quotes (if necessary... as I can't honestly see that being a £3k repair, unless a chassis leg has gone - very unlikely, looking at the bumper) and put the car back to it's pre-accident condition ?

Hang on - I remember a time when a courtesy car was a luxury, not something that was expected. On that basis, I'd be pretty certain that you are not forced to have one (hence saving maybe £1000) and just get a lift into work from a friend, or catch the bus for a few days ?

I know if this car had been mine, and the decision to have it repaired or written off hung on a weeks use of a Micra, I'd be cycling everywhere for a few days and getting it back on the road to use for years to come
