Default Concours Exhaust tip cleaning

I was at a MG Car Club Concours yesterday (Valentines Day) in Melbourne and noted the top Z cars had had their exhausts cleaned - so that the pipes looked new, inside and out.

The judges even wiped insde them with their fingers to check.

Any suggestions on the best way to achieve this? What works with ZT exhausts- as it looked great. Has anyone achieved this themselves?

Cheers from Downunder

Now thats getting a bit beyond the realms of reality. What will they be checking next to find a fault! Inside your CAT.
I think we used soda crystals in hot water to clean out the 2 stroke exhuast pipes years ago, wether that will do the trick I don't know. Other than that it is down to good old fashioned elbe grease!

I clean the exhaust tips on my Zt with 00 grade wire wool and metal polish to start with and then a cloth with the metal polish. This leaves them nice and shiney (inside and out )

Good olde BRASSO works!
But I gave up concourse back in my Triumph Stag days, when I always used to actually "drive" mine to the shows.
Trying to compete with cheats (IMO) who trailered cars everywhere to shows, was a losing battle I felt

Good luck with your prep for the show down under though

in my aahhmm younger days, we used to clean our motorcycles with "solvol autosol". still use it today on the bright parts of swmbo's, wait for it, cooker. this will fetch practically any metal surface up nice and bright, i use an old toothbrush, then polish with a bit of velvet. sad i know, but have not got a m/cycle now.

Use a Dremel with fine sanding attachment for the insides, finish off with a polishing attachment or Autosol metal polish, for the outside some 00 wire wool and Autosol and a load of elbow grease should do the trick
