Default hit a brick wall with my bmw sat nav install

Hello

I've got the componants for the install but i've hit a brick wall.

I've done stuff before like traffic master, sle mod for the symphony and mp3 but this is the biggie and would come in very handy as i do 600 miles a week.

I have kufatec main loom, tv loom, bm54, bordmonitor dvdmk4, tv unit.

It's all connected up the mk4 computer spins up, the radio comes on (classic FM) but no signs of life from the screen.

There doesn't seem to be any spare plugs at the head unit end of the loom

I've spotted the red white with yellow bands wire but I don't have a clue what to join it too. If anyone could have a look at the photos, and give me some pointers i would be eternally grateful.
they go massive if you click on them. There might be a pop up as they're hosted at image shack. sorry.
I'll upload some more in a bit.

Thanks

And this one? http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ead.php?t=3629 Make sure to take notice of all wiring diagrams. If not available I, JDC or others can provide some.

Can you adjust the volume, change channels and things like that? Does the sat nav computer shut down if you remove the ignition key and wait a few minutes? If so you probably need not worry about the red/yellow/white leads.

Is the backlight of the monitor OK? Meaning: Does it go from pitch dark to glowing dark grey when the system turns on?

If the backlight works there could be an issue with the video signal itself? Do you have the video module attached? If so, try to remove it and wire the monitor directly to the nav computer.

no it comes on straight to classic fm, the bordmonitor controls do nothing or the steering wheel controls

yes and when you get into the car you can hear it reading the dvd.

Where abouts are you in the Country?
If you are close to me, I can have a look and play for you,
and test the units work OK.

All the video output for Head Unit is derived from the TV Tuner.

hi that is a very generous offer but I am in Birmingham. However I shall keep it in mind if there is no progress

I might try another video module see if it makes any difference.

I can say with confidence that at least the Mk3 does not require a video module and can be connected to the bordmonitor directly. This is how it is set up in my car.

It may of course depend on your wiring harness. Mine is hand built so it may be a bad reference here.

IIRC the nav computer has two sets of RGB pins in the blue connector, one 75 ohm for connecting to the video module and one 50 ohm to connect to the monitor.

I can test the units in my car for you. I am in Solihull but am about in Shard End and Shirley during the week. If you are interested pop me a PM.

The white/red/yellow wire will need to be connected as it is the K Bus connection.
As the K Bus is connected to quite a few units in the 75 including the IPK it should be fairly easy to find a white/red/yellow wire and connect your install to it.
Without the K Bus connected you will not get a display.
Also you will need to connect the grey/green wire in the small black plug, this wire is connected to the ABS unit and provides a signal to the sat nav.
Without the grey/green connected the map will not update the direction of travel.
