Default 2001 Damson Red Connie SE 2.0 V6 For Sale

Hi Everyone,

Some of you may remember me joining last year and I had all sorts of ambitions to get the car that follows in tip top shape as a weekend bit of fun. A combination of ill health, change in circumstances and a lack of funds to give the car the love I intended to bring to it means I need to reluctantly let her go... I'll leave her on here for a week before listing on ebay.

She is a lovely Connoisseur SE Longbridge Pre Project Drive with every added extra/toy that was available at the time.
  • Model: Connoisseur SE
  • Colour: Damson Red (Deep Maroon)
  • Engine Type: 2.0 V6
  • Year of Registration: 2001 (Longbridge Model)
  • Mileage: 131,781
  • Tax: Currently SORN
  • MOT: Expires 2nd August 2024
  • Modifications: None
  • Date of Last Service - Oil and Filter Change Summer 2023/Full Service at AJF 4/5/21

Condition: Generally good, not a show car but with some TLC could be, all the money on this car has been spared on the mechanics and consumables, an absolute fortune. See below.

Location: Wirral
Asking Price: £1250 OVNO

Good Points:

Mechanically the car has had a fortune spent on it, key items include:

Aircon Recharge Summer 2023 - £65
Timing Belts and Water Pump June 2018 - £585 (108,000 miles)
New ECU June 2018 - £156
Thermostat Replacement June 2018 - £290
February 2021 - Four New Goodyear Tyres £260
Plenum Chambers are clear

Everything works, literally everything, cruise control, all steering wheel controls, air con is nice and cold, blind goes up and down, all buttons and adjusters work as they should! CD changer, mirrors, seat adjusters, everything works!

Most of this work was completed at AJF Rover specialists and the previous owner had kept a comprehensive spreadsheet of maintenance, some of the figures don't quite add up but this car has easily had well over £3000 spent on it over the last few years, mechanically it want's for absolutely nothing. I checked some of this work when purchasing by contacting AJF directly and it checked out as did the work at RF Motors, providing a near full comprehensive service history when added together with the stamps in the book.

It comes with the original bill of receipt which is a nice addition and some of the call back letters and closing down of Rover letters the original owner must've received adding to its history.

I purchased the car from London last year and it didn't skip a beat on the drive back to the Wirral, almost four hours! Since then it has mainly been used for leisure drives locally on a Sunday until I decided to take it off the road about 6 months ago for the reasons stated above.

Bad Points

As can be seen from the photos there are some areas that require paint, the front bumper near side, the back bumper off side (has a crack) and there is a slight scuff on the passenger door. One of the rear seats has a mark that a valet man had tried to remove but couldn't. My plan was to get all the paint done and have a very respectful, mechanically sound 75 to have some fun of a weekend. The roof lining has been pinned near the back was starting to sag.

Other Info

Since owning it, I have paid for a platinum valet in which anti mould treatment was applied to all carpets and compatible areas, the inside smells and looks lovely. I purchased a Sealey car cover for £100 to cover it when not in use (I may throw this in with the car if I get near asking price) and I've added a replica tax disc for the year it was registered.

Here is a link to the spreadsheet I was originally provided with, as stated some of the figures don't quite add up, whether this is the method used or an error, I'm sure it's not deliberate as stated, the work checked out when contacted.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

I have also included a photo of the original Rover pack and the folder of receipts and work done, not everything on the spreadsheet is in paper form.

I think I've included everything, I've been 100% genuine as far as I know, I'm no expert but the car hasn't skipped a beat in my short ownership of it. I'll be sad to see it go but would prefer it to go to an enthusiast on this forum who can give it the love it deserves, I think for the money spent on it £1250 is a snip and that's why I initially snapped it up.

Anyway take a look at the pics and make your own mind up and I'm more than happy to answer any questions!
