MG ZT180 on LPG with spare engine
The time has come for my father to part with his beloved ZT180. This car is one that I bought several years ago, as it was going to be scrapped, but was far too good for that.
It's a Solar Red MG ZT180+ Automatic, with Hairpin wheels, 115,000 miles and has been babied in our ownership. First of all, the shell is unbelievably good, as the car has been comprehensively waxoyled for years, and remains excellent. The car has four matching Hankook V12 Ventus tyres with excellent tread. The car has wanted for nothing in terms of servicing, having had the belts and waterpump changed around two years ago, the automatic transmission fluid has been done by a specialist, there is a Revotec fan bought from Jules, the car has a a new radiator, and has been maintained to a very high standard. Bodily, the car has the usual stonechips, but for a Solar Red example, is in very good order. It has four hairpins which could do with a refurb. The air-conditioning works perfectly, as do all other electrical functions. The car has a £1600 OMVL LPG conversion fitted, which my father had fitted to the car by a specialist who we have used to convert many cars in the past. This is completely invisible under the bonnet, and the car runs very well on LPG. The inlet manifold rattled, and was replaced, only for that to start rattling, so the innards of it have been removed, which, although I was initially sceptical, haven't really had any ill effects, with the car pulling very well indeed. The automatic gearbox is very smooth indeed, never having given any issues. The car has had discs and pads all round in the last 18 months or so, too. He will be extremely sorry to see this much-loved car go, but needs must. So, what's wrong with it? Well, we don't know. The car boiled due to a failed cooling fan about 18 months ago, and since then, sporadically, the car pressurises its coolant, but has only actually got very hot once again, since. The car's coolant needs topped up regularly, and it does appear to pressurise. As such, we purchased a known-good engine from MGStephen of this club, which has only done 90,000 miles, and is included in the sale of the car. Other than that, strut tops are starting to knock a bit, and the wheels, as mentioned, could do with a refurb. It's been a brilliant car, which has been babied, but unfortunately, is now for sale, as a project. I would really rather it wasn't broken up, so please only enquire if you're interested in the car as a project. Due to the excellent engine included, the fact that the car has one of the best shells I've ever seen, and has such a high quality LPG conversion, we'd like £650 for it, including the engine. I will get photographs in the next day or two. At the moment, the car has got 75 seats fitted, but I wish to keep them, so I will be fitting another set of ZT seats in anticipation of the car's departure. So, £650, or near offer, engine included, and take it away!
