Default Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail

Since I've been using Windows Mail with Vista I've had an unusually large number of sent emails shown as "undelivered mail returned to sender". Returned for a variety of reasons, most of which I don't understand.

Is there anything obvious for me to check? I've read often about disabling email anti virus (I use AVG) but doesn't that leave me wide open to virus attack.

I get round it by sending some messages via webmail but it's hardly convenient.

I'll appreciate any suggestions .

Tom

Go to Tools and then Accounts in the menu bar at the top of Windows Email.

Double click on your mail account, it will open a new window, and click on the Server tab. At the bottom of that window there will be a check box for outgoing mail authentication. Either ticking it or unticking it may well solve your problem.

If you have more than one mail account do the same for each one. You can probably check with your email provider to see if they need outgoing authentication first but it is faster, and will not cause any damage, to just try sending mails with and without it.

Hope that helps.

Many thanks, I'll give it a try.
