Default usb card reader

Got a usb card reader for chrimbo like this..........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-4-IN-1-USB-...QQcmdZViewItem

When I put my SD card into it all the way no light comes on and pc tells me insert a disc into G drive, when I push the card in only half way the light on it comes on, but nothing else happens.

How do I use one of these things ?

Sounds faulty to me as you're doing the right thing!

Just make sure that you put the card in the reader first and then connect the reader to the USB port.

The confusing thing is to make the light operate on the reader the SD card is only about a third inserted, no real instructions with it just lists loads of things that it will fit (including SD)

Looks to be faulty, as e668ecp said.

They are a pretty basic device really, just plug and play.

Couple of things, is the SD card formatted? and by what? also what is your OS? anything pre XP SP2 sometimes needs drivers.

also it may be conflicting with another USB device, windows may not have seen it (as sometimes you have to insert it, and restart the PC with it installed etc)

they are generic (mostly) but sometimes you do get the odd dodgy one

Yes check that the card works and then try the device on another PC

Tried in the nippers laptop still no good

Put photos on it by putting it in the camera and loading photos via the docking box, they showed when card was put in the photo frame, so I think it's one for the bin

Is your PC USB.2 compatible? Older ones with USB.1 ports may not accept the device.
