Default Ecu

Just had a new ECU fitted, it originally went in for "EP" showing on dash and subsequently non starter thus new ECU. However "EP" still comes up.
The scenario is as follows: Fill tank, run about 30 t0 40 miles, motorway mainly, get a clunk, EP shows, rev counter stops, temperature guage stops, car still runs, if I have to stop when pulling away feels like stuck in high gear.
Just been back to garage all week, no faults showing

As I recall, EP on the display is usually an auto gearbox problem, nothing to do with the ECU...

Sounds like a Can-bus wiring problem at least, which may be also effecting the autobox ecu wiring.

Most likely the damage lies in the wiring loom beneath the underbonnet fusebox.
