Yes the engine management is often the one that causes most problems

Ford dealers can access the engine management system with no problems as long as their diagnostic staff is experienced or willing to do it.

There's no consistancy from one V8 to another when using T4 what may work on one car may not on another even if they are only a couple of VIN numbers apart.

As Brian found out, try things one day they'll work another time they won't, all part of having a V8 just one of those things

The joys of having the 'gateway' ecu. I was lucky to do product update with MGR when these cars were launched and T4 never went near them on either day just incase it looked bad for the company

That's interesting! Is that with the old WDS or with the newer IDS, suppose you could select 'other' instead of ford or Mazda? Does this give you full functionallity or just code reading?

[QUOTE=75SCO;875993] and that there is a Coming Home function which illuminates my pitch dark yard when walking into the house. .

For the coming home light function you just switch off the ignition then switch off the lights and they stay on for pre programmed time, I use it all the time as I live in the middle of nowwhere and no street lamps around.

Provided it is set up on T4, plus there are options for the rear lights/rear number plate lights

Default Haha, and now this

Yep, looks like our V8's are only human as well. When trying to set up with T4, the coming home light didn't want to work. And then two days ago in the garage, they did. All day yesterday and most of today. Now it's off again... ?!?!?!

Not sure which system but it's possible to configure the ecu and change settings including disabling the immobiliser on a new EMS ecu (Ford replacement EMS for the V8 not the MGR one), which is more than T4 will do on the V8.

(Immobilisation on the V8 is carried out between the Gateway and EWS, rather than the usual EMS and EWS on the other models.)

Ford replacement ECU's need the immobiliser disabling in order to work with our cars.

Micksnr may know more, he's had his configured at a Ford dealer.
