Default Rear End Creaking....

Ive got a major creak coming from the rear end.

Hard to work out what side its coming from, but to my ears it sounds like its the rubber isolators at the tops of the springs.

Is rear creaking common?

Its loud as hell, and has been happening for a few weeks now.

Im sure you can even hear it outside the car.

Anyone know whats likely to be the issue? The rear suspension I checked over, and it all appears in fine condition.

It might be the rubber bushes?

What you could try is spraying each area (one at a time) in turn with some strong soapy water, this will act as a temporary rubber lubricant and might silence the creaking, they you will know where it is coming from.

OK but which one is likely to make the most noise?

The shock ones I dont think so, same goes for the ARB ones.

Inners also... Is there a big one bolted to the chassis that might??

God the above barely makes sense, hope u know what I mean, so tired.

Probably the one with the greater travel. If you think it is the top spring rubbers that's where I would start, then inner bushes on the lower arm. The other thing, lower the rear seat as it might make it easier to identify which side is noisey.

You can confirm the noise is from the suspension, by checking if the noise stops when the car is driven on rain soaked roads.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

OK.

Just sprayed silicone on all the rubbers I could see....

Its made ZERO difference.

Im thinking, as the noise transmits to the cabin so much, could it be the anti-roll bar bushes?

Can these make a severe creaking?

The ARB only twists when you are going around a bend. If it is creaking on a flat level road then you can rule out the ARB.

Have you tried listening outside the car when two people get in the car or a couple of people sit on the boot sill (bootlid open) and bounce up and down?

Ok guys.

It was the ARB to chassis bushes.

Worn to hell, down to a canvassy type material.

Plenty rubber grease, and quiet as a mouse, so will get a new pair on order.

Incidentally, why are the 75 and ZT bushes different part numbers?!!

Different roll bar thickness?
