75 CDTi auto Connoisseur SE silver 54 reg 130k *** SOLD **
Edit 5pm 28th July: Now sold in response to Autotrader ad.
After 5 and a half years of trouble-free motoring, it's time to let it go for £1650. As others have noted, it's very hard to price these cars, and I'm not in any hurry to sell, so that's my best guess. I'm selling because I bought another good-looking diesel auto a few months ago, this time by Alfa Romeo, but kept the Rover because of the dealer's poor part-ex offer. But running both really isn't sensible, so here goes... Rover 75 CDTi (2 litre diesel 135hp) auto Connoisseur SE in Starlight Silver (MBB) First registered Oct 2004 Almost 130k miles (mine since 54k in Jan 2010). MoT expires 15 April 2016 Standard SE kit and original fit options: Black leather electric heated front seats with driver 3 setting memory (no tears or split seams) Lo-line SatNav with discs: original Navteq; 2010 VDO Dayton UK and major roads Europe; 2012 Navteq UK and W Europe. (no cruise control, but then the diesel is very easy to keep at a chosen speed) My additions and mods: 6 CD changer mounted in boot (leaves glovebox free for gloves etc.) OE mats from Rimmers (driver's mat now a bit tired after 70k miles) Crofts door finishers All electrics work. The car starts every time and drives without any noticeable hesitations, smoke, or other fuss. No leaks (fluids and tyres checked regularly, but never seem to need any top-up between services). The plenum has remained bone dry all the time I've had the car. There are 2 keys. Paintwork is (let's say) good for age. Doors and wings were free of parking dings until a month ago when a little one appeared in rear passenger door (Grrr!). Front and rear bumpers have quite a few chip repairs of variable quality. Bonnet seems to have been resprayed and not quite perfect match to the rest of the car. Wheels ok but there are a few scrapes. Replacement parts in 2015: Rear springs Rear brake discs, pads, shoes Last 2 MoTs have needed various suspension or steering bushes renewed Gold fan resistor (to replace the one fitted in 2010) After 5 years of punching door cards back into place, I finally got around to buying the clips and securing them properly. Somewhat erratic service stamps by 3 former keepers - 25k, 29k, 47k - then annually with me by JB Motors Andover - 57k, 68k, 82k, 97k, 109k, 124k. Parts to bear in mind: 4 tyres at 112k miles, so fronts have only about 5k left, rears plenty more Front brake discs and pads on the car since 68k Battery replaced Dec 2012 Location: Winchester. Pics to follow in a separate post. As promised, here are the pics of my 75. Some general views of the exterior: Interior, showing: CD 6 playing, Lo-line SatNav buttons and menu displayed, 2 keys on the fob, driver's seat memory. Mileage a few weeks ago, when I took the pics. Now passed 127k, but still a few months till 130k. Last edited by ChrisH; 28th July 2015 at 16:27.. Reason: Consecutive posts - Use the edit ;-) |

Lovely looking car and tempting but the timing is wrong for me to change although it is very close to my ideal car and located close to me.
However I have another question unrelated to the sale - how have you found JB Motors? I moved to Newbury recently and have used them a couple of time for small jobs thus far and they have seemed very competent, maybe a little expensive, but a second opinion would be good. |

I've been using JB Motors for 5 years, doing almost everything except for the Air Con, where there is a specialist much closer.
They have (or did have) at least 2 people who worked for a long time at the Rover dealer here in Winchester, and liked Rover 75s. That meant they always showed an interest when I brought mine in. These days they are bigger and not quite so interested, and a couple of times had to have another think at diagnosis. But I still trust JB a lot more than other places I've stepped in. Thanks Chris. JB were recommended elsewhere and my own experience with 2 visits mirror yours - the first visit the person who dealt with me clearly understood the 75 whereas my second visit I did not get the same warm feeling. That said the work performed was vey good but maybe expensive. I think I will move about depending on the work required but I will use JB when convenient.
I will reply to the PM separately. |

Put it on Autotrader Sunday evening, at the above price of £1650.
Phone call Monday am showing interest. Visited today Tuesday afternoon; had a look; had a drive; agreed a price after a token haggle; fetched cash from bank; completed the paperwork and drove it away. Maybe I found the one person in the South of England who wanted my car, but my parting advice to the club would be: don't give yours away; there is someone who will pay what a good car's worth. And thanks to everyone for all your help and advice over the last 5 years. Last edited by ChrisH; 28th July 2015 at 16:18.. |

That's a strong price but it is a very nice car. Maybe the futures getting brighter. Don't be a stranger Chris.
