Rear window blind
Just a quick question:- I am fitting a window blind and I can't work out which bolts actually hold the blind to the car. There are 3 ( i think, need to look) floating type bolts with weird heads, and I have three small nuts screwed onto the threads that are left. I am guessing these small nuts were put on to protect the threads and it is the floating ones that hold it in place with the weird heads visible in the boot.
thanks in advance |

Post a photo of the weird nuts, I think they may just sit on the parcel shelf (as spacers) with the remaining thread going through the holes into the boot and those threads are then secured with the other nuts you thought were for protection.

the 3 threaded spacer fit into 3 holes in the rear metal shelf and do up from inside the boot.
It is a tight squeeze to get the blind, attached to the rear card shelf into position... and don't forget to plug the lead in before pushing it all home...

there are 3 6mm bolts on the underside of the parcel shelf. these fit thru the body work of the car and appear in the boot. the bots are about 1/3 1/2 and 2/3 spacing across the shelf. they are then held in place by nuts with a flange or ordinary nuts and washers if you don't have flanged nuts

Thanks everyone!
I went out and put just the blind in (without shelf) to see how it all fitted. No, the strange nuts stay put as spacers, the small flanged nuts hold it in place. Without the spacers it would sit too low, crush the foam and crush all the wiring that passes under it. Had to cut my own shelf as the one i had with the blind was the wrong colour. Bit of work involved but we are good to go! I will be fitting it back into the car in the morning. |
