What's with 75 prices these days?
No, not another thread about how cheap the Rover 75 is - followed by complaints that we are doing the cars a disservice by bragging about how cheap they are as their reputation becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Instead it's a whinge about how unaffordable they are in danger of becoming. On Autotrader right now there are 49 Connoisseur SE spec 75s. Of these no fewer than 20 are priced at around(*) £2000 or more, and 9 are at £4k (give or take a few pounds) or more, with the highest one, a V6, on sale for £8500. (* That includes £3999 cars....) 35 out of the 120 Rover 75s of any spec or shape on AutoTrader are asking around £2 grand or more £4000 could buy you a launch spec V6 with 55k miles on the clock, or a £4k diesel Classic spec. Granted there are plenty at £1000 or below, but is the tide starting to turn on prices for good ones? |

You have said what I am thinking too. Dealers are leading the way and they know a good car when they price it up.

For good ones that may well be the case. Judging on Autotrader prices it would now cost me around £500 more to buy a car of similar condition and mileage than it did when I got mine a year ago.

Prices in northern ireland for good examples have been climbing steadily for the last two years - Colin, who knows everybody, can still pick up bargains, but the rest of the country have to pay the premium that will become the norm nationwide in the next year or two.
There aren't many of these cars left - there'll be less in a year, fewer still a year after that - eventually it'll be just the really good ones with the really bad ones being bought as donor cars. Tell you what I've also noticed an increase of '' if you don't buy this I'm going to scrap it'' - makes me laugh every time Last edited by Rooney; 25th April 2017 at 18:02.. |
