Arjan_m's 75 1.8 mod topic
Hi everyone!
After six years of driving a diesel (some of you know her...), I had to sell it because the taxes for diesel are going sky-high over here (+/- 400 euro every 3 months) So last week I bought another 75, MidNhight Blue, but is a classic, so it has the cheapest cloth seats, and more plastic than other 75's (like the handbrake) But of course I started with some modifications, so the premium feel is coming back: When I bought it, this was how the inside looks: A Harmony radio without CD-changer, non-electric windows a the rear. Not that I mind that, but it feels a bit like a "naked" 75.... After spending some time on a scrapyard I found the following mod's 1. walnut/leather steering wheel 2. Original chrome door cappings 3. Chrome mirror caps 4. Gearknob walnut / leather 5. Leather Handbrake grip in stead of the plastic one Coming home I had some things from my diesel 75, so just went futher where I was started: 1. a PPD lighterr (for the purists.) 2. WinCE Head Unit. 3. Sandstone car mats in stead of black 4. MK2 airbag 5. NSF (left - LHD) grab handle 6. caps for the bolts of the seat belts

En yesterday I got a leather interior of a 75 MK2, electric and memory.
I made my own loom, and everything is working. On a later moment I'll have to connect the seat heating, because I don't have the switches yet. Halfway at the front: Now with both seats; MK2-seats in the rear has the advantage it has buttons to lay down the rear seat: This is making a big difference, leather is the way to go in a 75.

Very nice indeed but I would sort that steering wheel out as it's on the wrong side of the car

Today I received the torpedo badges, they were a bit faded:
After a quick clean, it needed some black paint: So let it dry for a while, and remove the paint that was too much. After that a good clean, and some new doublesided tape. Than they were ready to stick them on the 75! That's how a 75 should look, and one thing less on my to-do-list!

Thank you Charlie!
This is my third 75, first and second were both diesels. But because the taxes for diesels are going over the top in the Netherlands (400+ euro every 3 months ), I had to make the decision for a petrol car. Until now I'm very satisfied about the 1.8 engine, it drives very well and is fast enough when you want. I'm getting a lot of compliments about the 75's, also when I'm at a gas-station, or just someone passing by. Never had that with any other car, and those were Audi A6 (2002), or Vauxhall Vectra (2005). Rovers, and especially the 75's, are my passion, I love them and enjoy driving them every day.

The torpedoes really finish the sides off nicely - a lovely touch.

Today it was time to solve some optical issues. The front bumper was scuffed, and last owner decided to hide that with some paint.... You'll get it, it annoyed me sky-high;
After some searched I found a used bumper with the same colour JQW (MidNight Blue). I've fitted it today, had to change the chrome and grille. Of course I washed en waxed it, another thingy of my list, fjiew! Better!
