Default Leicester Foxes 1 Coventry Blues 0

Can my week getting any worse.

Travelling back last night from Coventry down the infamous boy racing track (A46) to Newark. A NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- fox decides to run out on me. Unable to swerve, as both lanes in use, the furry vermin hits the lower bumper region of my only car now, MG ZT.

I was only travelling at 60mph, as awaiting my spare wheel and currently running on a spacesaver..But the damage to my car is so major. (Please see photos) Wiring hanging down, light dangling, pipes visible, massive chunk of bumper missing. Lower grill missing...Oh yes ...But i was left a present from our Leicestershire friend, a tuff from his ginger, flea ridden body, left right there, for all to see...Car is a right off (RAC informs) Dippy dally took his knock and foxtrott oscared off!! into the Leicestershire countryside!

I recently sold my brother my beloved tourer, as he spent lots on it getting a recon gearbox (thanks LincsDave/Trikey/Bluebird) and then it fails it's MOT. So, no chance of using that.

A car, again loaned to my brother, he had recovered from Spennymoor on the back of the RAC recovery truck owing to it not starting, is stuck now in my garden, awaiting a crank sensor..

They say bad luck comes in threes....really!

My employer has cut my hours to suit them and now with the change to benefits, I am out of pocket, with no way of making up the deficit...!!!

I am selling both Rovers for spares or repair, as per RAC advice for the much needed cash that will hopefully get me a small car runaround, so at least i can get to work for my 15hours.

I will put pictures up in the classifieds shortly.

MG ZT - Blue , 58000 miles, fair bodywork..Still a runner but will need lots of work, as above. £200

Rover 75 Saloon (ex Graham's from NE)261000 miles, non starter. £100

Many thanks all for all your support over the years..

Never a nice sort of incident but from an insurance point of view it could have been worse - only doing 60 with the space saver on the front?

You can if you are fully comprehensive, however, it will be logged as a"fault claim" and you will be liable for any excess on your policy. It will reduce your NCB (unless protected) and affect any renewal prices or quotes for next year. You also run the risk of the old "beyond economical repair" and your insurer writing the car off. If you feel that you have a low excess and the car is worth it, speak to them.

Be aware, even if you just ring to enquire and inform your insurance company of the incident, you will have to declare it on any quotes and it will affect your prices.

I know that seems a bit of a harsh view, but that's the one any insurer will take I'm afraid. They don't love our cars the way we do

Hi Debbie,

In the hope of you being able to keep your ZT, I have a complete spare bumper in Trophy Blue that you can have free of charge. We just need to get it to you for as little as possible or hopefully a member near you can collect from me a POL on Saturday?

Let me know please.

Tom.

I'm saying nowt, that car is onto it's third bumper now

Don't ask me how I know that though

Tis but a scratch, and we can generally fix those.....shame your brother had the non runner recovered from Spennymoor.....I know a bloke in those neck of the woods

Things will improve Debs

Complete bumper will sort that, half an hours work and straighten those cooling pipes, im 99% sure someone will offer you one for next to nothing, or check the freebies bizarre.

It might not be the right colour, but im sure it would do you!

Good excuse to double check the o rings when in there!
