Problem with dimmer on new stereo
Hi, i have recently an alpine 9880 stereo and it sounds so much better than original stereo, however when I switch on headlights the display flashes. So I have to leave the setting on the stereo to dimmer manual instaead of dimmer auto.
What could be causing this, the connections on the alpine are the regular ISO(2 of) Also how do I get the steering controls to work, there is another block connection already in car that was originally connected to the old stereo, how do I connect that to the alpine as the alpine has a different kind of connection? All help appreciated, thanks. |

Sorry I cant help with the dimmer problem. The dimmer on my Alpine CDE-102Ri unit works fine on all settings.
However, this is the lead I bought to get the steering wheel controls working. You just need to make sure you select the Alpine Patch lead. Very Easy to fit and works perfectly.... http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/autol...or-p-9102.html Regards Rob

Is this what i need for the remote control to work? Does the jack plug into the stereo and then the connector into the connector in the car?

I think that is just the patch lead I mentioned. You still need the main harness kit.

Do I need the main harness kit as well, as I have the stereo already installed with the original stereo and car connectors.
Can I not just connect the alpine patch lead in separately? |

My knowledge is not great.....sorry. All I can say is that I used the kit and patch lead in the link I posted and it works just fine. It also extended the leads making it far easier to get everything connected, because I found without it my cable were a little short.
If you dont need the kit it will certainly make things cheaper, but in the halfords description it does mention a similar kit is required to the one I mentioned. Sorry I cant give a more "expert" opinion Rob

In either case you need a PC99-ALP patch lead. |
