Fred,

If it's the same as the KV6 it's only plastic. Have you tried flooding it with WD40 and leaving it to soak?

Simon.

Nah, sad to say it's a metal one and by the time i'd finished using nut spinner, ring spanner, open ended and mole grip, it's pretty much finished; I suppose I could by a new one and drill it out........ ah, thinking I could drill the hose nearby, then seal with specialist tape. Annoying and awkward.

The bleed screw has never been necessary.
Most cars even haven't got one.
I think it is a left over from BMW.

When you re-fill at first, you can squeeze the big rubber pipe repeatedly. You can hear the water and air moving. The air will tend to accumulate in the expansion box, so top up as you go.
After the first drives, let it cool, and top up, until you get a constant level in the box.
But always be careful and check (when cold)
And you do know the temperature gauge will not really be of much use. Do a search and you will see.
It could, for (almost) all intends and purposes have been painted on the dash.

Well worth noting, but it does give you an idea that the hot water is on the move.
