Default How i painted rear calipers and disc

Chock front and rear wheels, jack the rear up and place axle-stands under for safety....remove wheel from car.
protect paintwork with tarpaulin or sheets and any other parts from over-spray.....Safety is paramount remember !!

clean all rust from disc and caliper using a wire brush attachment for a drill and begin cleaning all parts, taking care when cleaning caliper piston seal..
Remember to wear goggles for this and gloves.....

When the rust has been removed from the disc and caliper, remove caliper parts inc pads fron hub SEE "how to section for removal of caliper" and clean caliper parts with wire brush, if you need to degrease first do this before wire brushing.

Now that all parts a clean and free from dust and grease mask areas NOT to be painted and cover all suspension parts from over spray.....and spray the disc and caliper....i used Hammerite smooth for painting over rust etc....while drying i painted the heat/dust sheald with black paint...

If you over-spray the disc face use( w5 £1 lidle's) for cleaning / removing spray, works a treat.

When all parts are dry remove masking tape and refit caliper/pads. using copper-grease on all threads and mating surfaces..inc pads

Finally clean face of the disc with a degrease and fit anti-rattle spring .....Not a good picture but i painted spring red for optimum effect

Remember! always observe safty instructions when working under a car , and make sure it is safe and the car is stable....

Andrew......

Nice job there OB

If you add or change anything in the OP please let me know so that I can update the How to section

The How to sections are closed so that only the initial How To's are (in general) listed. This method keeps the original How To in the live forums where it can be developed or amended by the Op, and further contributions or comments by members can be made.
