Bad luck,
I am sure Lates will advise accordingly. Was a Garage responsible for belt change? |

a garage up in yorkshire did all the work back in december 2008, previous owner used them for everything.
now im stuck with buying a used head and servicing/rebuilding it (well a friend anyway) or scrapping the car. my friend says rebuilding mine is a big waste of money and itll never run right im just hoping that lates is as good as you all say he is |

yes, he is very good. you wont find a bad word said. as for you very unfortunate situation, your friend may be partially right. a complete engine rebuild may not be worth the hastle. but without inspecting it, you wont know. a recon head complete with valves may be the cheapest option if the pistons are intact. other option if engine is ruined is recon engine or scrap, but it wont be as much as you think oif its just bend a few valves.
engines are fairly cheap, and its not as big a job as it may seem to change an engine. depends on the value of the car and if you want to fork out for the repair |

if you did go down the replacement engine route then i would change belt and water pump and flush it through and a nice new set of plugs while engine is out. that way you know the condition of belt /pump so you are practically ensuring problem free motoring ..
