I recently spoke to a Blacksmith in North Allerton about making a couple of these up as samples. He knew the severity of the situation, his wedding is spot on but he said the piece would need to be pressure tested.
I'll have another chat with him next week to see if he has any further thoughts. |

I see those Spencer Ashley ones are going for £29.
As a one off item, that's dirt cheap, same as for a very small batch; especially when you add beaded ends. I'd guess there wouldn't be much difference in price for a SS version, but it's just more difficult to work with, as it eats cutting tools in comparison to Ally. I was contemplating calling a friend of mine who worked a few years in the brewery industry with me, to see if he'd fancy knocking out a batch, as he's normally quite partial to a "foreigner" But tbh, I don't think he'd be interested at that sort of money

Fitted many of Gerry's ..............they were absolutely spot on.
Surprised Rimmers haven't got some made? They make the KV6 front lower heater pipes in stainless

The chickens have come home to roost with that particular one.
I personally would stick with the plastic original, I replaced mine with the Gerry Tee, four years back, and contrary to popular belief, the one I was supplied with was fabricated in mild steel and painted silver. Imagine my annoyance after draining and flushing the cooling system to find the silver paint washing around in my fresh antifreeze. More annoyingly so when I had to subsequently remove the tee, cut off the turbo stub and manufacture a one which came out at the correct angle and length and weld it to the tee myself. The moral of the story is here, after six years of service, the original plastic item was perfectly serviceable, and the replacement was certainly far from it. I won't be bothering for my next turbocharged K-Series Brian |
