Removing a wet or damaged ECU
How to remove a wet or damaged ECU
MG/Rover 75/ZT models have the main ECU located in the plenum area just under the front windscreen. If neglected, leaves, pine needles and other debris can block the drain tubes leading to a drowned or water damaged ECU. This often leads to strange electrical issues and may necessitate removing it for inspection, drying or repair. There is an excellent How To by Arctic showing how to access the plenum, remove the pollen filter, and shows location of the ECU, before you go further you should refer to this link While there are some good photographs of the actual ECU, a clearer one has been made available by Pabs, one of our moderators. http:// ECU provided by Pab. In most cases, once located removal is an easy job if you take care. Prevention is better than cure, a plenum shield can be purchased at low cost from club member Jules with more more information available at this link Additionally the Spy Hole is clearly shown, saving time and future dismantling when rechecking the plenums this is shown in detail on the original link to Arctics How to. Neither The 75 and ZT Owners Club nor the original author of these How-To's can be held liable for anything that may happen as a result of you following these How-To's. Any modifications should be reported to your insurance company. Last edited by chipsceola; 10th February 2012 at 14:24.. Reason: Image added |
