Default Gauging Interest In My Semi New KV6

Hi All...

As some of you may be aware, I have recently had a project car that is now finished... I bought an engine from Tam in the end and fitted that to the Project..

Now this leaves me with the Original KV6 unit that was from a ZS180...

I spent around £400.00 quid on this engine and the bottom end is basically new... Reground crankshaft with matching big and main shells... New crankshaft oil seal... New oil Pump.. New thrust bearings.. Basically a bottom end rebuild...

As it turned out, it looks like it was a little end that was causing the issue hence the purchase of another engine... Now if you were to fix the little end, then you would have a practically new engine...

So I thought I would post it on here and see if anyone was interested in the unit as a whole before I start stripping it down..

It would come complete apart form the inlet manifold, plugs and coils.... There is a new Cambelt fitted to it and the rears are only 9000 miles old and were fitted by messenger...

As for price.. Where to start as said, its had over £400.00 spent on it, but I realise that I wont get that back for it...

So I will start at £200.00 ono and see what reaction I get... If no interest I will break the engine down and sell the bits sepratley....

Any questions then PM me, Take a look at my Thread "My New Project" as you will see pics of the work done to the engine...

Hi Ed...

Hope you are well...

The engine would come as it stands in Andy's Garage at the mo.. As I recall the only things that are not on it are the A/C Pump and alternator + the plugs and coil packs....

I am over there on Thursday and could take a couple of pics of it as it stands if you like ? Let me know mate

Pete

Pete not to bad providing I keep taking the tablets. Yes please to the pix and hopefully I should know about funding by the end of the week/early next week. It will be ideal as I want to build a KV6 with forged pistons with a lower compression ratio for a little project I have in mind, so the small end problem will not be a problem.

What could you possibly have in mind!

Something with forced induction perchance?.....

Possibly twin forced induction, going to have a little play with my 1.8 NA, first I was going to rip it out and just fit a stock KV6, but then I thought that I might as well fit a Vinderloo KV6 with a pair of 1.8 blowers, hence the need for lower compression pistons. The Splintex supercharger failed as it distroyed the pistons as the compression ratio wasn't reduced to take into account the extra 4psi of boost.

I am thinking along the lines of 2 three pot k series engines with a turbo feeded each bank; turbos will be mounted at the end of the engine with the battery placed in the boot, an air box located where the Shannon tube sits. Will keep the plastic manifold as the inlet tracks will help with low end torque and a 1.8 intercooler will complete the package. My 04 facelift 1.8NA only cost me £400 so I have decided to have a little play. BHP assuming the same BHP per pot as a 160 k series, then around 270 bhp should be achieved. I have heard of modified KV6's running at 300bhp and I know of one other KV6 with lower compression pistons fitted.

Of couse it will need a remap and a rolling road session and I think traction control will be a must. A twin de-catted exhaust pipe from manifold to tail pipe with compliment the project.
