Zt-t trailer build
Time line updated - 8th September 2015
Doner car - Republic of Ireland export spec Connie tourer diesel manual Plan..... Plan is to at the start keep it simple, firstly get a refurbished rear subframe into it and on a set of wheels at the rear, then chop it in half from B pillar forward (about 6 inches forward of the b pillar at the top and about 6 inches forward of the handbrake grip at the bottom).. This thread is as much about input for ideas as well as discussion on it. My plans are as follows Stage zero Collect and deliver shell to friends shed mid February - Well ended up being a whole car in July 2015 Stage one Rear subframe refitted with hand brake etc connected up and sit the rear on a set of steel wheels I have. - Complete car with subframe etc now bought so that makes life easier. Stage one and half - Stripping the car Currently ongoing. I've a v6 thermostat to sort first but slowly making progress on the car. Aim to have engine, interior etc stripped by start October 2015. Stage two Chop off the front end as required and despise of the unnecessary metal - Aim November 2015 Stage three Create a "a frame" and bolt / weld to monocoque to create the strongest frame possible. Aim - December 2015 Stage four Create a "front" covering the open gap from sheet metal and also fit a large caravan window into it so I can view through it. Aim - Weather depending February 2016 Stage five Source rear boot, pair of tourer rear doors and rear bumper along with rear lights. End of July - completed July 2015 Stage six Waterproofing and soundproofing the entire trailer. Aim - March 2016 Stage seven Wiring up rear lights to work off a standard trailer socket. Aim - same time as A frame is built Stage eight Full respray in Trophy Yellow to match my other tourer which will tow it to events Aim - March 2016 Stage nine Source a spare set of hairpins, have them painted to match my current ones (could be anytime to be fair) Stage ten Complete interior - April 2016 Stage eleven Enjoy it and take to shows and events in 2016 onwards

I look forward to the build Colin.
I have a spare rolling shell in Typhoon but I will refrain from cutting that one up. Tom.

Lot of laws I've gotta comply with also
http://www.armitagetrailers.com/trailerlaw.htm https://www.gov.uk/government/public...small-trailers I want the trailer to be 100% legal which is going to be a challenge.

Looking forward in seeing this project evolve and go forward.
Please do add as many pictures as you can. Hopefully this thread will become a "How to do" on making trailers to other Owners.

I will indeed, as I can't weld a friend will be doing the work for me, and I'm hoping to learn a little of it also.
Will progress as funds are suitable.

Hi Colin, love the idea. If you need any help, advice or tips on the fibreglassing, a friend of mine living in Antrim should be able to help. Let me know if you'd like to be put in touch with him.
