Default It wasn't the thermostat housing.

Here's the culprit; the plastic coolant elbow mounted alongside the thermostat housing.

That's just how mine failed ! When i went to remove the elbow it crumbled like a rotten stick. Makes me wonder on the relative numbers of elbow failures v thermostat housing failures ! ( Well, it's a quiet day...........)

These QSM's are a very good thing but I think they need three conditions to make them really helpful:
1. only to be placed in the relevant threads, to avoid a search returning hundreds of results with redundant information;
2. they must be different from the usual key words for the same reason as above (excellent example "V6stat" instead KV6 thermostat);
3. a sticky with their list and meaning;
These conditions will make them a powerful tool, much better than searching for usual key words.
