Kv6 needs all new coil packs - any ideas on cost
My Zt 190 kv6 engine light is on and local specialist has diagnosed it as a coil pack issue . They are currently getting an estimate . Can anyone please giveme a likely indication of cost ( labour and parts please )? Also any suggestions how many there are (is it 6?) and finally will diagnostics show if all need replacing . Please note car runs perfectly and other than the warning light there is no sign of a problem . If I do nothing what are the consequences ? Thank you dave

my last car was a peugeot 406 and the one coil pack did all 4 cylinders. The pack went on cylinders 1 and 2 but i was able to drive it home on 2 cylinders ( circa 8 miles ). A new pack was fitted ( 60 quid from camberlys ) but driving it on 2 cylinders popped teh head gasket, i assume the head was hot one end, cool the other and it warped. After this teh colling system would pressurise with exhaust gases.

Thanks for the warning
Thanks for the warning . Having recently (April) shelled out to fix a head gasket failure the last thing I want is a repeat performance . I'll get it done asap and thanks again.

Are they sure of the diagnosis, if the car is running fine I find it hard to belive that all the coil packs have gone?

What error codes were being shown? What else has been done, eg. changed plugs? Who were the local specialists? I can read off the codes for you, I'm not far away. |

You dont need to change all 6 of them. You also dont have to buy new ones either.
I bought a complete set for £70 off a low miliage car in the scrappy to fix my miss-fire. Only turns out to be the exhaust CAT. |
