Default Which engine oil do you use (CDT / CDTi)

After doing quite a lot of searching recently for decent engine oil at a bargain price I found out (thanks to JakeW89) that I was in actually looking for the wrong grade (at least as far as my user manual recommends)
I was looking at prices for 10W40
BUT I should be looking for either 5W40, 5W30 or 0W40 ECEA A3/B3
Anyway, now that I'm on the right track I thought I would put this question to forum members
What engine oil do you use ? (diesel owners only please)
example (not actually correct, just an example)

Make = Mobil
Range = 1
Grade = 0W40
Type = Fully Synthetic
Purchased from = Halfords
Cost = £39.99 for 5 litres

PLEASE, those who post could you follow the format of my example above for easy comparison

It's important to change your oil frequently in a diesel engine, so as long as you use a good quality brand it isn't that crucial..

Currently using Shell Super Helix Diesel

I have a mate in the trade so get it super cheap. Does the job! And I change the oil about every 3 months.

Default Oil

Shell Helix Diesel is a good choice and used by ex Rover/MG dealer and main BMW dealer here.
Last time I bought from Shell station it was about £22/5 litres.

Anyone with a modern diesel engine would be mad not to consider these guys.

Between their oils and their fuel additives, they have grown in brand power for quality and nothing else. Worth a look.

Anything less than a quality fully synthetic in a BMW 2.0l turbo diesel is not good enough, especially if it has been given the Ron mod, the viscosity is not so good after a while. It is better to change a good synthetic every 10k than any other oil at 4k

For as long as I can remember I have used GM oil and have used fully synthetic since it came on the market. I use GM Super Synthetic 5W-30 every 10k

I believe fuel is important also, I have always used Texaco diesel, and have used Wynns additives since my biking days in the 70's I use use an injector/pump additive soon after purchase of the car and once a year if I keep it long enough, and I never run on less than a 1/4 of a tank.

I have been driving diesels for 35 years and never had a problem with any of them, several had covered 150k - 200k and were as good as new when sold. So it works for me.

Oh the price from Vauxhall = £39.99 + vat, I get it for £25 trade

Any branded ( I try find one on offer ) 10W40. It's what the handbook says, so I have always put that in.
