Ahh that's a myth about Salt air in North Wales!
There may be a little salt in the air but believe me a Car that has lived in land is usually more rusty underneath believe it or not!!

Reason:
Coastal areas are 3-8 degrees warmer in winter helped by the sea.
(Manchester is often 4-5 deg cooler than Colwyn!!)
Far less salt is required on our roads.
Conwy Council policy is to salt the road only if Temp falls below 5 degrees
(which was very seldom last Winter)

Worst place to buy a used Car from in my experience is inland up in the highlands!! (sorry to the Folks up there)

When I was 17 I set out early one Sunday morning to ride my new Honda 125SS from Cambridge to Bangor. I was going to see my girlfriend, who had started at uni there. It was a great journey. I was full of hopes and anticipation. The weather was beautiful and on the glorious A5 I even picked up a hitchhiker. I gave him my helmet to wear, but he wasn't Jack Nicholson - and I didn't have a load of drugs money hidden in my gas tank. Anyway, I digress. The point is, when I got to Bangor, it was closed. Is it still like that? Is that why there hasn't exactly been a stampede of support? Even the OP seems to have exited, stage left. Forgive me if our North Wales brethren (and sisteren?) are so devout that they will be spending all day in chapel. I'm guessing here too, that you're probably not Welsh by birth, Jules. So that would make it Welsh 0, Welsh Residents 1, English Insurgents 2. Come on lads (and lasses)! Where's the "welcome in the hillside"?

Had a very similar experience when on a family holiday in the 80's. Thinking of the song "Didn't we have a loverly day etc......", my Mum n Dad decided we should take a day trip to Bangor, from our base in Rhyl. So we duly boarded the train. When we arrived at around 1pm on a Saturday all of the shops were shut or shutting . Place was totally deserted. Turns out the song is about Bangor, Ireland.

On the plus side we got back on a train and ended up taking a trip on the Blanau Ffestiniog railway (excuse spelling) which was a brilliant day out.

Here we have:-- a perfik excuse to take our cars for a nice run out, show it off to fellow owners, wander around on the seafront, play on the sand. Go shopping (for the ladies) sit in the sun scoffing sarnies and coffee, and generally making out you are an experienced grockle.. A Grey hankie with knots in each corner placed crookedly on the top of your head may help with that. .....................

When you get to Colwyn Bay, come off the A55 at junction 22. then turn right, go under the A55 and you have the sea in front of you, you will then see the pier to your left, so drive along the prom untill you get to the first mini roundabout. (painted circle on the road really )

You can either take the 3rd exit onto the seafront there, or take the 2nd exit and go straight on down toward the pier untill you see another entrance to the sea front on your right close to the pier..

Facing the sea, you are looking North, so to be on the East side of the Pier, when you park up the Pier should be on your left..

As this looks like being a small meeting, we may all fit into the car park right next to the Pier itself.. I.E. between the Pier and the first lil Café.
