AUTO TRADER ANNOUNCES THE ROVER 75 AS BEST FAMILY CAR, VOTED BY UK MOTORISTS
Auto Trader, the long-running motoring magazine , has announced the winners in the first ever Used Car Awards, in conjunction with ITV4 and in association with Warranty Direct, at The Hilton Metropole Hotel, Birmingham on 24 October 2007 .
Auto Trader's website visitors and magazine readers, together with ITV4's Used Car Roadshow viewers, have voted in their thousands for their favourite used cars across six categories including Family Car; Sports Car; Hot Hatch; Supermini; Luxury Car; and SUV . The winner in the Best Family Category was the Rover 75, and as the only organisation dedicated to these brilliant vehicles we were asked to represent the car at the ceremony.
UK motorists were asked to vote for and then rate their favourite used cars across a range of criteria including comfort, reliability, running costs, practicality, image and driving pleasure. The vehicles with the highest scores in their category won their group. Nearly 7,000 votes covering over 200 vehicles was combined with data from leading research company eDigitalResearch to score each owners satisfaction levels on a variety of criteria and arrive with the 18 finalists.
Host of the Auto Trader Used Car Awards, Jason Dawe, comments: “ I believe that these awards are special because the owners and drivers of used cars in the UK have decided them – not a panel of journalists, critics and motor industry ‘gurus'. Motorists in their thousands have told us exactly what they think about the dozens of used cars they had to choose from.
“Competition has been really fierce and we've seen the leader board changing almost on a daily basis. But above all, what these Awards have shown is just how much motorists love our used cars! Every year motorists buy around 7 million of them, that's three times more than new cars and no other country in the world have as many makes and models to choose from.”
