Mornin' all,

Downloaded one of the wallpapers off here this morning, nice picture, but on my desktop the outline of the car is all jagged and the chrome strip down the centre looks like it's striped.

Know it's something to do with graphics but what ?

Thought i'd check on here before I start fiddli... err fine tuning.

What's your screen resolution set at?

Think the problem is the picture's so big the computer resized it & done a NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- job. I quite often resize big pictures with another program before using them.

Incidentally that's one of the first official Rover 75 pictures circa 1998; location Spain? Nice picture though. Most of the early launch cars were equipped with the 15" crown wheels. How times have changed.

Hi GG,

Thanks for response,

Resolution is 1280 x1024

Refresh is 75

<N I C K>

It was resized by Photobucket before I uploaded it.

The actual size of the pic is 1024 X 768 seems like either photobucket or your computer has resized it badly.
I can send you a copy at 1280 X 960, that's the best I can do and still keep the proportions.
PM your email address and I will post. :)

I'm sure we can try and provide these wallpapers at different resolutions (although we will never be able to cover them all) :D

Would not the three most frequently used ones cover most applications
800 x 600
1024 x 768
1280 x1024

Your system should be able to render the pics on screen nicely but for now I have sent you 1270 X 993 as a snapshot from my Mac desktop with the res set at 1280 X 1024, looks good on here, let me know how you get on.

Received your mail GG thanks,

The first picture looks much the same as mine,
second one is much better,
the third one windows throws up a "windows needs to know which program created it" box.

Will stick with the second one, thanks again for your help.

I only sent 2, I think Windows ought to stop trying to be clever, it's really not very good at it. :D

It's not always windows you know..... Just remember, when you first click on the pictures, your browser may show the smaller file first, so if you "right click - save as" on that picture it may not load the full size picture first, and you will need to click again to get the bigger one.

for example, in Nick's link above the first click gets me the 653x490 picture, but the second click gets me the 1024x768 version.

mind you, I use 1680x1050 (22" wide screen) :D

The wallpapers were put up in what is for the majority of people these days a default size of 1024 x 768. The suggestion of having alternative sizes is very valid though and I will look into doing this in the next couple of days. There are also a couple of new wallpapers coming which will be restricted to smaller resolution screens due to their original size.

yep, one of the drawbacks of having big screens is that the "norm" is 1024x768. I check the stats on my own website each week and about 90% use 1024x768 and a mixture of 70/30 IE and firefox browsers. I tend to make up my own wallpapers now :)
I have software that will enlarge pictures, but even it can only do so much.
