View Full Version : Cam belt change intervals for 2.5 V6

Hi All,

Just wondering if someone can help me.

I've just purchased a 2.5 V6 Connoisseur, and am absolutely delighted with it.

I noticed from the service history that the cam belt was changed at 90,000 miles, but that this was nearly 3 years ago.

Since that time, the car has only done another 20,000 miles, and so has been serviced annually rather than by mileage.

Given that 3 years have elapsed since the last cam belt change, would it now be due for another?

If not, at what sort of intervals should I be looking to change it.

Thanks,

Bagpuss.

Lates is near Coventry - about 5 miles from the Ricoh Stadium

2 hour drive in your 75 - at those prices it's worth it, believe me :)

Fair point, a day out near Coventry wouldn`t be so bad especially with £200 (less petrol) in my pocket!

Agree with Mike & Kandyman. I travel from Yorkshire, 200 mile round trip, well worth it!

Hi Bagpuss

Belts need to be changed at 90k or 6years. Ours cost us £800 (although only done 38k in 6 years) for inspection service and belt change at ex Rover dealership 9 hours, or £550 for belts only. Local garages are reluctant to do due to the number of 'special tools required'

I have read that the water pump should also be changed at the same time as it is as much effort to do it on it's own as to do the belts, hence it should cost very little extra for some preventative maintenance.

Don't dismiss it, I see you are from Colchester, I'm from Ipswich and I'll be going up have my Cam belts done in December, even with the cost of the fuel it still works out cheaper than anywhere in our region and also his work is good, he can complete the 90k/6 year service in about 6 hours or so including the cam belts well worth the trip.
