A few members of MGFreedom have used him for different things including HGF.

I use either Paul McFadden (Motherwell) or my local garage James Coyle Motor Engineers http://www.jcmotorengineers.co.uk/

I have bought a couple of things from the Duke St place. These were second hand, and expensive, compared to what was available from e-bay but I need the parts on the day.

Does the Rover Repair Centre or the Duke Street place have a T4?
- Or anywhereelse in Glasgow - Central belt?
Any idea of the cost for a session?

Cheers

Petrol or diesel!.... maybe suss it out yourself for free. Welcome to the club and can I just suggest paying the £10 to join, it's well worth it mate AND the how - to's themselfs will more than pay you back with interest.

I agree, it is at least worth trying to narrow down the problem to a specific area, even if you cannot fix it yourself.

Plenty of free expertise and guidance available here.

I don't think the duke st place has T4. Too upto date for them, they are a sort of old style garage. Dreadnought do.I used their T4 to link a new key fob to the car. Can remember how much though, $25 I think.

The Arnold Clark Motorstore in East Kilbride had a T4 when I had my 75. The service department was the old Park Automobile Co main Rover dealer and therefore the T4 was in the workshop.

This branch recently became a Toyota dealer so not sure if they will still have the T4?

If you can get the car over to Kirkintilloch,on the High St.Ind.Est. there is a garage called ''Autocraft'' two of the mechanics are ex MG Rover technicians, very clued up too.

A T4 is available in the same Town at a Land Rover diagnostics centre on Kilsyth Road.

You could mention my name, they are also familiar with the Club.

A customer of mine used to have the following sign up in his pub:

Your food will be prepared using your choice of 2 out of the following 3 words:

CHEAP
FAST
GOOD

EG. Good and fast won't be cheap.......

You don't mention if it's petrol or diesel, it could be rear engine mount, either worn or worked loose. Moto Build have polypropolene replacements on their website under MG ZT. www.moto-build.com

You can test the fan yourself, if you stsrt the car, switch on the A/C and press the windscreen demist button you should hear the fan motor running. If not, it could be resistor, relay or motor failure.

AFAIK only the motor is a BMW sourced part (made by Siemens).

Depending on the age of the car it could be either a 2 or 3 speed unit.

Have done the test and fan not running at low speed no resistor in sight so its a 3 speed will purchase new motor with uprated resistor have a good quote to fit

If we get a nano-meet / tech day organised it sounds like a job for that.

If you buy the resistor from Jules then it's only a case of whipping off the bumper, removing the old resistor, soldering on the connectors, putting in the new resistor, testing and putting the bumper back.

Im only 10mins drive from the Duke St garage. I had my ZR in their as the passenger door was jammed shut. They managed to get the door open but couldn't fix the central locking, so they fitted a standard latch. Cost me £230 if I remember correctly.

Took my KV6 down as I thought my manifold was chatting a wee bit, and they wouldn't even take a quick listen. So they have lost the job, when I get round to replacing.

Ive been in a couple of times also for parts only to the Duke St place. Expensive if you ask me and a kind of rough and ready place. Twice I have tried to see into his workshop, but its always closed up. It worries me that you dont get past the reception and cant see where your car is!

I paid £35 for a power steering tensioner. They sell for £5 on ebay. Same with a fuel tank, £40 but he wanted £150 to fit it. My local garage (James Coyle Motor Engineers) http://www.jcmotorengineers.co.uk/ fitted it for £20.

I see you are in Motherwell, on the door step of Paul McFadden in Orbiston St. He is a good contact for all things Rover and MG. I have used him previously.
