I posted this on another thread about decats but really should have started a new thread so here it is.

I have been looking into getting this done on both my zt's and was looking at fabricating it myself,
I was looking to fabricate something similar to Iamuff in this thread
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=116611

Long story short I contacted an exhaust manufacturer asking for a price for some pipe I gave them the following sizes which I think are correct but will get confirmed before I order and try.
60mm inside diameter & 65mm inside diameter with an overall length of 15" slotted ends & supplied with clamps.
They have came back with a price of £26 delivered for stainless & £20 for mild steel which I thought was pretty reasonable.

So it should be just a case of cutting out the cat and fitting this in it's place.

Note I won't be selling these once I'm sure there ok I'll let the seller know who will list them on Ebay (probably)

Hi Wullie,

If it is all OK and things go according to your plans, why not just post the supplier details on here so he can get direct order from any club memebers who are interested, that way he avoids ebay charges on at least some of his orders?

Plus the club members have an additional contact for exhaust etc.

I'd be interested in 2 of these depending on price. Would rather the SS option.

Hi Dennis,

I only said EBay as that's where I found this seller he probably could be contacted direct for purchases.
Will be back in touch later to confirm my order if sizes are correct.

The prices above were quoted by the seller based on the info I gave him.
I originally asked for an adapter so I could weld it up myself but they said they could make them up which makes it easier for everyone else.

Is there enough room between the flexi and the cat for a clamp to fit?

Well decat delivered today well Impressed with how it looks.

One small problem though my cat has been replaced at some point so it doesn't fit. It will however the wife's as it still has the oem cat.
I have an oem front pipe so I'll either swap them over & fit it or order a different size.

Few pics.

Any update on this? I'd still be interested in one of these pipes if available.

Nice, tidy, workmanship :-)

Am I right in that the MOT isn't affected by decatting a diesel --- and will this remain the case with the upcoming, more stringent, MOT ??

Never mind -- read some threads and answered my own question:o

Yes there available sorry I thought I had put a link up for the seller.
Just got another one in mild steel & was only £13.50 delivered inc clamps so well happy.

Sellers on eBay just message your sizes.

Thanks for the link.

I would have thought all the cdti saloons need the same size?

Is it just a case of cutting out the cat, fitting this piece over the ends and clamping it tight? Any firegum etc needed?

Providing they still have the oem front pipe then yes.
All you need to do is cut the cat out & fit replacement pipe with some exhaust putty.
Certainly makes a difference.

If anyone's ordering say you heard it on the forum as I told him he may get a few orders that way you should all get the same price.

I'm thinking of Taking off the Old Cat .. 3 bolts ( hopfully not too rusty) one end and a Hacksaw / grinderette the other end ..

Smash out the cat innards ..with a long prodder :D..

and trim and refit with one of these .

Should seem reasonable and look OEM ??? to save all the possible on and off for an MOT

I work with stainless steel and it isn't good practise to have stainless and mild steel in contact, the mild steel will rust quicker when connected to the stainless.

No need to try & make it look oem it won't fail for not having one.

Not so sure on that one as there are now MOT rules that state something like " No part of the emissions system maybe altered or removed"..

Also as of January something like If the vehicle was fitted with a "cat" when registered, it will have to be in place to pass and the may well apply EGR valves! ooer!!

Its all a bit wolly .. , but open to intepretation for a "Jobs worth" ;)

So I'm going this way just to try and avoid any hassle MOT time ..
