Yep, i'd be up for that. I'd be interested to what my ZT is throwing out after the 177 upgrade, Longlife SS and induction. Plus what it's lost over the last 10yrs ;)

It could be worth a phonecall to see what sort of price they do it for, how many cars can be done in the day etc to work out individual prices etc.
It might be worth organising a social meet there as it might get boring waiting all day for your slot on the dyno. There are two car parks next to the garage but not sure who owns them so someone would have to make a few phonecalls, liase with M-Tec and seek permission from the landowner for use of the car parks.

I know it might be a bit of a drive for some, but there is a place in Hinckley that specialise in dyno runs.

£30 per car for two runs, regardless of how many turn up on the day and they will open on Sundays too.

Ok, not doing so great with the company listed on page one, so here's an alternative.

Saturday 6th October
www.g-rperformance.co.uk
Location: Mexborough/Swinton
Postcode: S64 8BH (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=S64+0BH&ie=UTF-8&hl=en)

Normal Price is £55.00, our price is £35.00 for 2 back to back runs of your car, he does Flywheel and Wheel HP testing

Or we can pay £40 per car including a BBQ and Drinks

The price is based on 10 cars he can do a maximum of 15 cars in a day.

I need a firm commitment to this, anyone who says they cannot come, even after committing, will still have to pay.

There will be some waiting around I would think, so suggest that we draw straws for who goes first etc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Seems expensive as per this (http://www.rsownersclub.co.uk/rsocbb/showpost.php?p=2731411508&postcount=2) thread in March. Not saying it's not worth it, just wonder why such a large difference in rates.

Hi Simon

It's only 4 gallons of diesel to me (gulp!:o)
I've not travelled the A626 for years and I'd be interested to know what's available for the huge flow rate of diesel through my injectors. Wouldn't it be hilarious if I was getting nowhere near 130 bhp for my V6-like fuel consumption?:D So put me down, please, Simon. Curiosity is killing me. There are too many unknowns in my universe.

IMPORTANT PLEASE READ.

I had a call with Clive the owner and he has been having some neighbour trouble with regards to noise.

There are a couple of rules that have been enforced on him and he wanted to check with us to make sure everything is still ok.

Rule 1) Only the Owner can be in the garage with the car when the run is taking place.
Rule 2) A Maximum of 10 Cars, so this event is now limited, so anyone holding off, get your name in.

I said I would ask those attending and get back to him.

For me, all I really want to know is "what BHP is my car running" so the above isn't an issue.

Any thoughts from others?

I'm in the same frame of mind. I have a 160 V6 with a 177 upgrade and Longlife cat-back. So logic would suggest about 180bhp but the car is now 10yrs old now with 61k and would have lost some of that power with age. It will be interesting to find out.

However, I've just checked out the routes and (because he would otherwise have to go east, almost to Mansfield then north) there's only a difference of about 10 miles and 5 minutes journey time in it, innit.:o
I thought we could meet about 8.30 / 8.45 to be there not too much after 10.00.

As I said (if you are located close to the centre of Crewe) AA Route Planner shows there’s really not that much in it – either in distance or time. As well as Woodhead Pass, we get to use the M1, too. I suppose that makes up for the bendy bits?

Hi All, Called at Autotronix this afternoon and to a check Hatfield Arms,
-closed- today but guy at Autotronix tells me they are usually open at
weekends, he also says that he usually provides tea/coffee but can't
promise much else this weekend, not to worry though there is The Gallows
& The Monks Bridge Farm within about a mile of the garage, used them both in the past but not within the last 6 months, seem ok.

If it's ok with you Simon I'll pay you for the fleece on Saturday, I
intend coming over I'm only about 10 mins away. Give the machine a
miss though, not sure my blood pressure or my wallet could take it.

Cheers!!

Well here are the categories nobody else stands a chance in:

Most Fuel Used in Shortest Time

Most Fuel Used for Every BHP / lb/ft of Torque

Most Fuel Used on Journey to Meeting

Greatest Quantity of Soot / Smoke Generated

and possibly

Smallest Power / Torque Output :o

Is there a booby prize? :D

Evening chaps!

I have to be honest, an early start for me would be good, I could do with getting back home before the end of the day. I have been to arranged Rover meets or visits for the last few weekends on the trot. This weekend I am doing Saturday and Sunday (and hoping she doesn't lop me knackers off on Monday!)

I have got to replace faulty bits in my boiler so we can have proper hot water again.

I shall still plan to be there for about 10am to be honest.

If you North Westers are wimping out and getting out of bed at dinner time, I shall take the A50 and whizz over that way.

At present I would like to take the prize for most smog ejected please.

if your name is drawn first and you aren't there someone else has to go anyway, seems a bit daft to draw names out of a hat if we were not all there at the same time. Surely it would be better as it is a meet to have a chat about rovers and just take turns.

Just typed a fairly lengthy post here and ................ it's gorn!:(
Can't be bothered to type it all again.
What it boiled down to Rich, is this. Although I'm not from the NW and I usually get up at 5am and early is best for me too, my daughter has now dumped the grandkids on us until about 10am, so you're going solo on the A50.
Hope to see you there.
Safe journey.

Well grandkids are much better than Rover's anyway!

Maybe the trio can drive 'over the top' together on the way home?

I suggested some kind of Donkey Award for the car which has lost most of its original power and a Stallion Award for the one thats retained the most.

I also think we should have a Putty Award and a Golden Mallet Award for the Spanner meets. Lol

I haven't had time to sort any prizes out in all seriousness :o I did try for about 1 hour one day, but my imagination wasn't working so gave up :getmecoat:

I think, and it is a think, our lass is looking at stuffed toys in Ikea today, but no guarantee she will come up trumps.

I think it's worth putting a lot of effort into this sort of thing. It enriches the memories people take away with them.
So Bob and I will see what toys they're giving away with the Happy Meals in the McDonalds at the end of the M57:D:D

Apparently cuddly toys sorted... Rat and Bulldog, best ikea could offer.

So Rat for the car that's lost the most BHP from standard, or if no one has lost, the one that has gained the least from standard.

Bull Dog for the most gained from Standard.

And Free Happy Meals all round from Robert :D

SK14 3AU is the post code for McDonalds at the end of the M67... :}

The results of the car tests could prove most interesting innit.. More on standard cars though really. I doubt the remaps will tell us much, and will only be of interest to their owners.

Many thanks to Simon and everyone else.
Interesting day, enjoyable journey and great food at a very reasonable price in the Hatfeild Arms.
If I hadn't gone today, who knows when I might have discovered my split turbo / egr hose?:shrug: What a mess that could have made.:( A quick and free temporary repair was provided by our host:}
Well I now know (with the hose repaired) power is about right. Torque is better than normal, but can't explain my high fuel consumption. So it looks like I'll be off to get the injectors checked very soon.

I hear that a re-mapped 160, was most powerful V6............... Let's not spoil the later Thread that Simon is creating. All I can say is that it wouldn't have won if the Balance VIS was not changed and if yours truly didn't have a spare in his boot and a VIS tester.
