Hi have just received pcv and "o" rings from Jules and am hoping to get them fitted asap.however limited on tools as never been any good at car maintenance /mechanics (sure i've mentioned this before) and will attempt them at the spanner meet with hopefully experienced guidance from those in attendance .As i'm only making a day visit was wondering whats the earliest time for entrance and roughly how long to do my jobs as i would like to have time to socialise / check out the other cars and get to know a few folk.Do not want to appear as turning up to get my jobs done and clear off.Its a busy time for me , daughters 21st , my 47th and a couple of days out with other members of my clan and then work...have read the how tos and looks like its a bumper off and undertray.would I need to get hold of axle stands, trolley jack to perform the tasks.also rather short on specialised tools.I have a couple of socket sets and a few bits but have always had mates and family carry out jobs for me.But the enthusiastsic members on here are far better suited to these specific jobs..hope i'm not asking too much for a first time visitor..regards Nige:bowdown::bowdown:

Hi and thanks for the offer.Stocktake has also kindly offered to help , the more the merrier .Didnt want to make a dogs dinner of it so decided to wait while the meet. The pcv filter was half done by the time we got to the air filter so took the plunge ,aided by the "how tos" on the forum.Luckily my mate had the right tools as im a little lacking. good days work by my standards though, and nice weather to boot..cheers and see you ay the meet.regards Nige

If anyone wants some (free) interior lighting bulbs I'll bring them with me.

5x 5w incandescent 501 bulbs (standard are 3w)
5x 9smd LED 501 bulbs.
1x 30cm LED strip for boot lighting.

Also if anyone wants a handbrake compensator fitting on the Saturday or Sunday I'll lend a hand.
I "think" HarryM1BYT has 1 or 2 in stock. (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=111797)

Very white and very bright is all I can tell you :)

It felt like I was floodlit, in the dark I couldn't see out of the car and felt that everyone within 5 miles could see in ;)

I reckon they'd be much better in a ZT than a 75, the 75 suits the orangey glow of incandescents IMHO.

I'm intending to bring my Ebay nightmare along on Saturday - it's been suggested that I might be able to get some pointers on the various problems that I have. (I need to start a list I think!)

Ideally I think it needs to go on T4 for some diagnosis. Will anyone be doing that? Quite happy to pay obviously.

It would be helpful as I don't really want to be driving all over the county until I've sorted the cutting out out...

Hmmm well hopefully the Shannon Tube and Gold resistor will be with me by the weekend. Ordered them from Jules shop today. Looks like due to the finance drain recently I doubt I will able to afford the T4 session this time. As I have to fork out for Road tax as the vendor neglected to mention that the tax on the car is disabled so void.

In our first phone conversation about the car he said it was taxed and tested until May 2013. Even when we collected the car no mention was made that the car had no valid tax disc. I have been trying to get this sorted with him and it's all gotten a bit nasty :(.

So in the morning I have to contact DVLA and try to get some tax. Of course to complicate matters my insurance is with L&V through Nationwide and they only send out documents by royal mail post so I have to wait for the certificate and only having the green new owner slip does not help especially as it has to be changed in taxation class.

Just what I needed :banghead:.

Don't know if I will have time to breathe..
I have:
Gas check on a caraven ( yup, I didn't know about that until yesterday either :o)
Full front end off and fan rebuild
at least 6 vis motors
2 door locks
Handbrake compensator
Had to ask Pab to help out with front end off and upgrade to Projector lights
Had to ask Canonite if he can do a rear sundblind for me
general checks and helping out.

If everyone can just understand we are there to help, not to do it for you. we are available for the specialized/tricky bits and to guide you through with back up if reqd. Speaking to Andy W the other night and he will be busy too BUT remember if you get stuck, just ask :) (the exception to this is the fan rebrush, i need to be in there to replace the brushes.)

Oh and when i have had my first glass of wine, don't let me near anyone's car :D :D :D

I am trying to get there for Friday afternoon so weather dependent ( looks like rain on Fri) maybe able to start then

Understood , other members have also offered to help in my particular case,VANROYCE for one with "o" rings.obviously a man id demand and I am sure all the ones you help appreciate your efforts.I am hoping to learn rather than let someone do it all for me , but unfortunately have always been better at understanding how something is done rather than actually being able to physically do it..a bit of a clutz...Hopefully whatever I learn can be used to assist others in the future....cheers :bowdown::bowdown:

Hi Stocktake, not wishing to send you "over the edge", but the fan brushe s(the exception to this is the fan rebrush, i need to be in there to replace the brushes.)...is it a straight forward check while the front bumper is off to check the brushes or does it mean disassembling a lot more parts to get at them..If a visual check might be worthwhile having them looked at while in the process of doing the "O" rings...:)

Over the edge :laughing2: I'm 56, jumped off the edge years ago :D :D

Once the bumper is off you then need to remove the slam panel & head lights/wiring. this then gives access to the fan housing. depending if the fan retaining bolts can be removed will decide if you have to cut the fan housing around the aircon pipes to remove it or not. Once you have the fan motor removed and separated from the blades, you then need to open the fan motor, not an easy task ( I broke the last one, (sorry Raynor :o but it wasn't working when he came and it wasn't working when he left  Once you split the fan casing this then gives you access to the brushes.
So, not really a visual check :(

If you test the fan using the ign on engine running, select demist, and it runs continuously then that's the end of it :)

Well I will look out the WD40 and spray any fitting that I may have to undo. If I get time I will have another go at that air bag connection under the drivers seat :(. It will depend a lot upon the weather here now.

Just getting the VIS motors checked and advice and opinions on the manifold and if it's working properly or not will be a great help indeed.

The insurance certificate arrived this morning so now I just have to get onto DVLA about the road tax. Cannot do it at the post office with out the new V5 as there is a taxation class change involved from Disabled to PLG.

I sure know how to pick em :p:.

Hi Nick, so you recognised it then, was it the helicopter shot that gave it away? (change of reg plate)

Dawn loves it ''as it’s her that uses it every day'' all her costumers say ‘I like your new Jag’’

It’s just what I expected ‘having owned 2 MG’s previously’’ there’s always something wrong with it and as soon as you fix it something else go’s wrong with it :)

Ps; thank you all for your kind comments about the vid, I’ve had it made up for some time now but I’ve been struggling with the music to put with it, Greasy Lightning has never been my favourite record but I think it fits rather well now given the hummer of the weekend (it’s a remix to get past YouTube’s strict copyrights rules)

PPS : I did join the falling down crew on Saturday night :o but to fair I was side swiped by someone (doing the ministry of funny walks) while was assisting his wife up off the ground ‘'luv it’’ :D:D:D

Not at all. Just scroll down on the events and meets page until you see the "15th National Club Meet"
You'll be more than welcome. The saturday is a Spanner Meet and the sunday is the national.

Please take me off list as attending, due to continued problems with the engine and gear box. I have, at a cost, cancelled my hotel accommodation.
