Tailgate Problems

Hi All,

Am having problems with my tailgate on my Tourer.

If I close the tailgate without force my door open light will remain illuminated on my dash. I really have to slam it shut to get the light to go out.

Another problem I am having is when I am on motorways the same light is coming on when I pick up speeds over 70mph. Again I think this is the tailgate again causing this issue.

Anyone go any suggestions what the issue could be and how I could possibly resolve it?

There must be some adjustment on the switch?

There is adjustment on the latch so have you tried adjusting it?

On the tailgate lock there is a micro-switch & spring-steel tab, the tab loses its shape over time and requires bending.
The tailgate trim and lock need removing. Lift the plastic cover off the lock to access the tab - use a screwdriver shaft to lock/unlock the lock so adjustment can be seen. Try the lock on the tourer using the 2or3 wires before replacement.
Putting the tailgate trim back on is the hardest part.

Door open warning at speed can also be the bonnet lifting a little - adjust the rubber stops a little should solve it.
