Gearbox is a little notchy recently and yesterday I felt the clutch slip a little.
May need a replacement!
Car is Facelift 05 plate diesel ZT.
Clutch was replaced (Master & Slave) at 70k. Now done 127k.
Mr Clutch has quoted £493.88 for replacement Master & Slave, leaping to £959.27 if the dual mass flywheel also needs replacing.
I have 2 questions

1) What are the chances of the Flywheel needing replacement
2) How does this quote stack up?

Thanks in anticipation

I might be wrong, but i did'nt think there was an additional labour for fitting a DMF so £460 extra is well over the mark to start with IMO:

It may need the DMF at those miles, I would avoid mr clutch tbh.

Am sure Mike at MJS (http://www.mjsautoandmarine.co.uk/pricelist.htm) told me he was now doing clutches so worth giving him a try, he maintains and sas repaired 75/ZT/260 for several members on this forum, including myself.

Too late to capitalise on the 25% discount. Shame I did not know about it! Got it all done now, though! Clutch - replaced! Master - replaced! Slave - replaced! Dual Mass Flywheel - replaced! Total cost including labour = £1180.

I had the master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, clutch and dual mass flywheel done for just over £700, which I dont think was too bad?? I did not have any clutch slip at all, just jumped in the car one morning and clutch was stuck at the floor.....

That's a good price, in fact if its all in, its a stunning price. I just paid just under £600 from a local specialist for parts and labour, didn't require DMF. :)

I didn't think the DMF failed that much on our cars - were these replacements to be sure of no future failure, or were they out of spec?

I was informed by the mechanic that it was necessary. We discussed it beforehand and he assured me that he would not change it unless it was necessary!!!!
This is the second time my clutch went. At 70k, I had the clutch, master 7 slave cylinder done. now, at 125k I had to have the whole lot! Spensive!

I thought this was the case. How much do you charge for a clutch change, out of interest?

I can supply parts.

At the beggining of the week, I was quoted £1500 by Mr Clutch with DMF, however, I was quoted less than half that by a member on here (andy willi) not sure if that included DMF though. Also I have been quoted less than half £1500 by a local recomended garage including DMF, so shop around.

Help! clutch (or related parts) has started giving up on my 2003 ZT 1.8T (95k miles, don't think it's been replaced previously). Gear changes sticky & clutch action getting spongy. Anthony Betts have quoted £1300 (including small discount for finding them via this Club site - Herts. dealers) for clutch, master & slave cyl's with 6 hours labour. Is that fair in light of comments above? I've been offered provisional booking for early next week...

That sounds steep for a 1:8 as I think there is more room around the gear box and not as awkward as the v6 or CDT
