This might be obvious, but I got caught out so might be worth mentioning.

Keith said about making sure the fbh gets unplugged - the two pin power plug - should it go to lockout. Thus one can reset and make sure one is back ready to test knowing that its potentially ready to work.

But, if you are doing bits/checking over a period, do it as a matter of course if you have been using the car. Mine obviously tried to start up with the engine running at some point and didnt fire properly. And thus, when I eventually got around to testing again, it went through motions but didnt get hot at all, perplexingly, even though it had been fine previously. But I hadn't registered the possible times it had fired/not when driving.

Removed plug and all fine again. (Also interesting that my solenoid pump looks awful - literally riddled with thick, flaking rust on its barrel.. but it still seems to be doing the stuff after 170,000. Which is good news.)
