Some may have seen that my car passed her MoT yesterday.

While i was there i learnt an interesting fact, VOSA have removed the Shock absorber bounce test from the MoT until they can come up with a better method than the old 'bounce test'

The reason for this is that a guy took his car for its MoT and it passed, he then drove straight to the main dealers for a service (they couldnt test at the time - faulty equipment or something).

During the service the dealer tech told the customer that his shock's were shot, he was amazed as it had passed the MoT about an hour earlier.

It was arranged for VOSA to test the car and without the engineers knowing the fault the VOSA engineers also passed the car.

The reason???

Ever tried to 'Bounce-Test' a Discovery?

Or for that matter any numer of these small cars with plastic body panels? but the car in question was a Discovery

Im assuming they still check for leaks and fail accordingly. I always found the bounce test amusing, some cars ive had have been so stiff that you cant move the suspension even by sitting on the car, which makes it a rather useless test.
