Hi

Interesting stuff. Did you get any photos of a mark 1 Escorts? Had one as my first car.

What a fantastic collection of motor cars - takes me back to my youth :o
Love the Anglia (had one!) and the Stratos (wanted one but never won the Pools!)
Thanks a million for posting the photos :bowdown:

Didn't take any Mk1 Pictures..there was an immaculate Rally Mk2 RS 2000 though...was a bit chilly so had my hands in my pocket most of the time:}

Funnily enough my first car was a Ford Anglia too (a 1250? De Luxe ..hand painted red and blue...it had a heater unlike the basic 105E!! .. that's what made it a DL)

Also there was a Standard 8 ...which was the first car my father owned ..it was even the same colour ....brought back memories

I too would have liked the Stratos...always been a favourite of mine but probably wouldn't fit in it:o

Some great photos there. I thoroughly enjoyed the event myself, and here's a link to some more photos.

The Stratos is a Hawk HF3000 replica, and according to one of my friends who owns one, is the one that appeared on Top Gear. I've travelled in one on a couple of occasions, and although it looks impressive, both inside and out, just isn't my cup of tea. It's far too skittish to use properly on the road, and never feels totally secure on anything but perfectly dry roads. I can't say I'd ever bother, as on the average B road, something like a Toyota GT86 would likely be a lot quicker, and lot more enjoyable.
My favourite car of the day was undoubtedly the Triumph 2000 roadster, which was gorgeous, or the Riley RMB. It was nice to see the event as well attended, and I just wish I could have done the heritage run to Dumfries again this year, but alas, my P6 wasn't ready in time.

Hi.
Wish I had known as I would have gone. My daughter lives less than 200 yards away from the peoples palace.

For a rallying nut like me - life doesn't get any better than the cars in those photos - if only I could have my youth over again (but with a bit more money !) :D

I wonder just how far they travelled with the hoods down :}

I was there last year and boy was it cold, some of you guys there will remember I stuck my high vis. jacket on I carried in the boot. When I planked myself in a good spot for some photos I hadn't realised it was at a gate to let the drivers through. Everybody thought I was security. Even the official security guy said thanks for the help and told me to go for a coffee as nobobody would know :o

When I got back to car, even after a visit to that wonderful "chippie" my legs were still frozen.

Missed it this year cos I had a cold :drool4:

I recently (last October) bought a Dax Rush kit car ....drove it up from Windsor over 2 days (525 miles) with only the side doors on most of the way (had to put roof up for 40 miles approx. around Manchester because it was absolutely tipping it down ) ..and heater blower wasn't working either..it's not too bad so long as you wear the correct gear (the problem is deciding on the day what is the correct gear!!)

Wish I'd found the chippie you were talking about at Glasgow Green..couldn't eve find a coffee stand nearby this year
