View Full Version : Knocking noise on tickover (1.8 non-turbo)

Wonder if anyone can give me some advice on how to stop this noise. I have not had the car long and I am noticing a very annoying knocking sound when the car is on tick over:banghead:.

It sounds like it is coming somewhere from the exhaust system and when I hold the back box it seems to stop. Has anyone else had this and what should I do? I do not like paying garage prices - could it be sorted by a bit of DIY?

Generally the Mounting section/strip across Rear Box Snapped.
You need a replacement Piece/strip of steel and get it Welded, Generally Problem Solved.
Other things can be a Internal Baffle Collapse or CAT Internal Ceramics Loose.
