As the Hollow Tree meet regulars will know, there is a lovely engraved stone plaque on the wall by the front door of the pub which says that the Rover Sports Register meet there on the third Sunday of the month.

I have contacted them and as I am sure you have probably already worked out, they no longer meet there.

They do meet at 7pm on the third Wednesday of each month at,

The Phantom Winger (http://www.fayre-square.com/pub/phantom-winger-broughton-preston/m6972/)
398 Garstang Road
Broughton
Preston
Lancashire
PR3 5JE

I have asked about the possibility of a joint meet some time in the future, but thought it would be nice if a few of us ventured up to meet them at one of their meets.

They are for all Rover models, but seem to specialise in the pre 1950's models.

I am open to any suggestions or other views on the above.

Sounds like a nice idea for the summer maybe

At least you can have a proper look around the cars in daylight

I thought it was a coincidence when you told us about the plaque, Rich. Then, when I saw it, I was convinced it was to do with a local football club! :)

Perhaps you could go and let us know if it is any good because they have not got back to me by email?

The RSR is the oldest Rover club, having started in 1953 to support the pre-war 'sports' models. They cater for all Rovers, including the Land-Rover derivatives and R40. In fact I contribute articles for their 'R40 Corner' in the bi-monthly 'Freewheel' magazine. Also, a lot of the committee and owners of classic Rovers, run 75s as their everyday car. So for people in that area, a meet-up would be welcome and probably productive, with like minded owners.

They do have a website as well.
