View Full Version : Exhaust fitting question

Hi,
Can anyone help me out there? I have just bought a rear exhaust
box section for my Father in law from Rimmer Bros. I have got the
box section and two clamps. The end of the pipe (Engine end) has
got a larger end to the rest of the pipe. If this sleave goes over
the old bit of pipe why do I need two clamps. The car by the way is
a 75 2.5 V6. I will need to fit one on mine in the not to distant future,
so I thought I could practise on his.
I hope all this makes sense.
Thanks in advance, Jeff

- - - why do I need two clamps.

If I interpret the Rimmer info correctly, you need 2 clamps to replace the entire exhaust system. It comes in three sections, so two joins. In your case, I'd expect only the one join, since you'll have to cut off just the tail section. Don't know why the bore varies though. I thought it was the same front to back.

Hi T Cut,
Yes that was why I wasn't sure. They said I needed two clamps
both different part numbers. But from what I can see you just need to cut the
exhaust and slide the larger bore over the old bit of pipe and clamp it with
just one clamp.
