Hello there, finally got fed up of topping up the clutch fluid, nearly every fortnight now so it's time to bite the bullet and spend the money

Anyone know of a competent mechanic who knows what they're doing with these cars in the Blackpool area?

Obviously any club members who want to do it - feel free to put your name forward too ;)

Thanks

I used JPS autocare in Preston, had no problems with them. My uncle takes his 75 there for servicing.

I can't recommend him highly enough! Although not a specialist on our cars he is a very competent mechanic and only charges £25 per hour!:)

No evidence of a leak from slave cylinder and plenty of fluid around the clutch pedal - not all of which is from my topping up!

Clutch was replaced about 6 months ago but I don't know whether they replaced the cylinders (I got car after it had been done)

I'm an expert now at crawling behind the pedals

If you are a topping up expert you would find replacing the master cylinder yourself no more difficult.

Lots of info. on the forum on how to do it. Plus detail pictures of the click in connector on the top of the gearbox.

Just got a quote form a guy closeish to me who apparently is a "Rover specialist" who will do both Slave and master for £800 ish

Won't do the master without the slave and I know the slave was replaced 6 months ago when the clutch was!

No thanks!!!!

I would PM Andy Willi, to see if he fancies a trip to Blackpool!

I believe that he normally charges £450 for a full clutch + travelling expenses!

Can't see them being £350 and at least you know then you've had a proper job done with good parts! ;)

So got the master cylinder replaced for £220 - quite pleased with that after silly quotesWorks perfectly now long may it continue!!

As an aside when I got it back this aftie It was really sluggish - fine when I took it in, so I took It back and after much deliberation and checking they finally decided to disconnect some air thingy after taking off the air box?? Apparently it was disconnected when they opened it so as a Favour they reconnected it - this apparently caused the sluggishness and once they disconnected again it was back to its nippy self

Any thoughts?
