A few weeks ago I filled the car up as it was just below a quarter of a tank, even though i'd filled it up the fuel guage and trip computer were still registering the same as before, just below a quarter of a tank. So I drove home switched off and checked a few mins later but still no joy. The guage and computer went down to empty as normal over the next few days even though I knew there was still about 3/4 of a tank left. Since hitting the bottom they have stayed there. I've done a battery reset but that made no difference and done a factory dial sweep test to test the dial works ok too. So I assume it will be something to do with the pump?

Any ideas? Its a 2001 75 2.0 V6 conn se manual

Teh guage is diffently rowng.;)

But I doubt it has anything to do with the pump.

I seem to remember that there are two sender units, one in each half tank. The tank is shaped like a saddle to clear the tunnel.

It could be a sticking float on one of these sender units, but this is only a guess. Some brisk movements or banging on the tank might relieve the situation?

Can the sender unit be replaced on its own if its faulty or is it complete with the pump?

Does anyone know if the sender unit can be replaced on its own?

I don't think so but you can check the quality of contacts and resistor continuity and values:

5 ohms empty

166 ohms full
