Hi all this time its not my car thats gone wrong its my mates. (That will teach him for taking the ****) will all of a sudden when he starts his 190 ZT from cold it revs to about 2500 RPM for about five ish seconds then falls down to about 1500 rpm but when warm or starting when warm the car will idle at 750/800 rpm any ideas. Ps its not the seals on the vis motors and we have checked for air lecks and found none.

Found the problem theres a split in the vac line which goes in the throttle body

No problems back start engine when its cold and goes straight to 2000 rpm and it will not go down for about five ish seconds. Have definitely now checked all pipe work but if this helps when you start the car from cold it starts first time but the engine revs only just faster enough to allow the engine to run (about 500rpm ish) then it shoots up to 2000rpm for five ish seconds then slowly falls down to 1000rpm but once warm the idle is 800rpm and when started hot the engine will idle lovely plus now and again you can smell fuel in side the car as well. Any ideas

The breather pipe under the engine cover has a t piece which is known to break. I remember first buying my 190 and being almost knocked out by the petrol fumes when stuck in heavy traffic.
